Network requirements for Madita interviews

Madita runs voice interviews with applicants directly in the browser. The page loads over normal HTTPS; the voice connection runs over a WebSocket (wss://). If a proxy or firewall blocks that connection, the page loads but the interview does not start, and a notice says the network is blocking the voice connection.

Destination to allow

Host
interview.madita.ai
Protocol
HTTPS and WebSocket (wss)
Port
TCP 443
IP address
34.102.190.221 (static, IPv4 only)

This is the only host an interview needs. The company logo and videos are served from interview.madita.ai as well.

What your proxy has to allow

  1. Allow the WebSocket upgrade for wss://interview.madita.ai/ws/*. The proxy has to pass the HTTP header "Upgrade: websocket" through.

  2. Exclude it from TLS inspection Turn off SSL inspection or break-and-inspect for interview.madita.ai. This is the most common reason the voice connection is blocked.

  3. Keep long connections open An interview runs for up to 45 minutes over a single connection.

  4. Allow the microphone in the browser for https://interview.madita.ai, if browser policies restrict microphone access.

Not needed

No UDP, no WebRTC, no other ports, no software to install.

Rarely affects applicants

Applicants mostly use their own devices or mobile data. The change is mainly needed to test from your company network and for internal applicants.

How to check it works

Open an interview link from your company network and start the interview. If Madita speaks, everything is allowed. If the network notice still appears, send us the date and time of the attempt. Our logs show whether the connection reached us.
